When you choose a door you have many options and security isn’t always at the top of your list. You want something that looks good! Today though, it’s possible to have something that looks great and is also incredibly secure and that is where steel entry doors come into play.
Today I’m going to talk all about these kinds of doors, where you can find them, how you get the best deals, and what you can expect to pay as well as discuss some of the security benefits you may not have ever even thought about, but that are incredibly important in this modern day and age where crime seemingly is increasing constantly.
First, just what the heck are they? sometimes people get confused when you talk about steel entry doors. The first thing comes to mind is a big metal looking thing, am I right? The fact of the matter is, steel doors don’t have to look like steel anymore. Technology has advanced so much that these things can look like anything, even wood! Yes it is true that these doors are heavier than wooden doors, but at the same time they’re much more sturdy as well.
Who are the Major Manufacturers? there are many companies that manufacture these doors but some of the main ones include (in no particular order) Benchmark, JELD-WEN IWP Custom Doors, Pella Corporation, Stanley Door Systems, Therma-Tru Doors, and also Willmar Windows. This is by no means a comprehensive list, and I’m sure you can find many others that produce just as good of products as these guys. When it comes to this sort of door, the name of the manufacturer is less important than you may think. That is to say, there’s not a whole lot especially important about the doors that makes them that difficult to produce.
Steel Door Options Available: you have more options than you may expect when it comes to these doors. You can get them in nominal width and height, and you can get them in a plethora of different colors and finishes or even as unfinished surfaces. There are an infinite number of sizes and types from you choose from as well as many different panel styles such as flush or raised or cross buck or any number of others. As I mentioned before there are many different textures to choose from including both smooth and wood grain. You also have the option of placing glass panels within the doors as well. Basically you just have nearly the same options you would for a regular door with the added benefit of steel safety.
The main thing to realize is that a steel door doesn’t mean an industrial door, these things go in your house like any other door. In addition it won’t warp or crack over the years like a regular door will. Yes it’s true that these doors can become dented, on the plus side you can often remove the dents with a simple auto repair dent kit that you can find cheaply anywhere.
What about prices I know what you’re thinking, with the added benefits these doors must be very expensive right? Actually you’re wrong! Many times they’re less expensive than a fiberglass or wood door. Basic models without hardware and glazing can run as low as $100 to $120! Of course the price goes up a little when you add amenities bringing the price nearly a sigh as a regular wooden door.
The fact of the matter is, there are many benefits to owning steel entry doors in your home. But at the end of the day, when you come right down to it the only question that matters is; will you enjoy the look and feel of your door? And I think the answer to that is a resounding yes!
